Rosie Chase

Composer, Sound Designer

Rosie Chase completed a Bachelor of Music Composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2004. She specialised in electro-acoustic composition, audio-visual composition, music technology and advanced studio techniques and recording. Whilst completing her studies she worked as an assistant at the post-production & music facility Supersonic. In 2005 she was awarded an Emerging Composer Grant from the Australia Council to create a multimedia performance piece for cello, clarinet and electronics called Broken Reflections. This developed into a short film whilst at AFTRS. Where she graduated with an MA in Screen Composition.

 

During her time there she studied sound design, location recording, foley, dialogues, atmospheres, tracklaying and mixing, enabling her to thoroughly explore the relationship between music, sound and image. In 2007 and 2008 Rosie worked as an assistant sound editor for the renowned sound designer Sam Petty, gaining valuable experience working on two features and a number of short films. She has actively worked in the industry as a professional composer and sound designer including projects for theatre, film, television (recently Ch 9's Rescue: Special Ops) advertising and has collaborated with artists on sound installations and audio-visual productions. Rosie is currently working on George Miller's Happy Feet 2.
